| I've deleted the post on the salsa billboard cos it's hard to maintain the ratings.. instead, i'll recommend some nice salsa songs periodically... but of course i'll like to welcome others to contribute too.. Ok.. For a start... this late 2006 song from the album 'Rhythms Del Mundo (Cuba)' titled 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for'... yup!!.. for those U2 fans this is a salsa version of the same song performed by Coco Freeman and U2..  This is a medium paced 4mins 53secs song that starts off with a simple string instrument (for a rural mexican feel) and builds up to a very pacy rhythm with slow additon of other instruments. The chorus part is performed by U2 in english while the whole song is in 'spanish' (correct me if i'm wrong) so that it retains a strong latin favour. This is a surprisingly lively piece that is light in weight and gives a feel as there isn't a lot of instruments, even with the part when U2 comes in. | Haila Mompie is the former singer of the Cuban Band “Bamboleo”. With her old band, she mainly performed Salsa and Timba. On her new live recording, she demonstrates that she is also familiar with more historic Cuban music. She sings classic pieces like “Bemba Colorá”, “Sobre una tumba und rumba”, and “Qué te pedí”, but also a Bamboleo hit “Yo no me parezco a nadie”.
